Growing Outreach

Melissa Harrington recently approached Pastor Ahlersmeyer with a generous offer to succeed Judy Kiess as an “uncompensated employee” overseeing congregational outreach. She brings a passion for ministry and trained expertise as a recent graduate of Concordia Seminary Fort Wayne’s deaconess program.

Chad Van Meter, after much prayer and reflection, will begin studies for the pastoral ministry next month through the Specific Ministry Pastor (SMP) program at Concordia Theological Seminary Fort Wayne.

Hear more about these new roles that Melissa and Chad will be taking in our August newsletter.

In this outreach role, I look forward to working with people in our area, showing them the love of Christ while helping to meet some tangible needs along the way. Outreach is a wonderful way to fulfill our
mission here at Holy Cross – to make a Christ-like difference in the city of Fort Wayne and the world.
— Melissa Harrington
Lesa and I are excited for a new venture into ordained mission work. You may have questions, so do I. It is a discernment process we are on together. Not alone. I truly believe this is my truest sense of
vocation where our deep gladness meets the world’s deep needs.
— Chad Van Meter
