Reaching the World

The first people to hear of the birth of the Messiah, the good news, were “simple shepherds”.  The Good News took place during our Trunk or Treat in October.  We gave out 175 envelopes in which were $10 Kroger gift cards and a magnetic bookmark clipped to each envelope with a scripture verse.  Some people may have known what was in the envelope because we did this same thing last year.  However,  one gentleman didn’t want to take the envelope because his children go to Holy Cross, and he didn’t think he should have one.  I convinced him that we wanted him to have this gift.  As the time for Trunk or Treat was winding down, a woman walked back to me.  She had just opened her envelope, saw the gift card and wanted to thank me.  The last example is a father, who when he saw the bookmark attached to the envelope, was so excited because his daughter loves to read and he knew she would love the bookmark.

There were 489 shoeboxes collected for Operation Christmas Child this past November. The shoeboxes go around the world to impact children to hear the Gospel message in a local church.
