Summer Building Update
What got done.
It’s been a busy summer for our facility. Floors have been waxed. Seven classrooms have been painted. (This is common for a Holy Cross summer).
We had planned to divide the former resource classroom into two resource rooms. This included building a wall and substantial rewiring. Both of these rooms are on pace and look great. The reason for this remodel is to expand our student needs. Mrs. Julie Hale (previous 6th grade teacher) is transiting as our K-4th Grade Resource Teacher and Ms. Denise Berglin will focus on 5-8th Grade for the coming school year.
As we dug into our 4th grade classroom (which we had to move for the last several weeks of school) has been sealed and repaired internally (although we are still in discussion with the contractor who repaired the exterior last summer). While investigating solutions for this room a chase wall was removed and several abandon fixtures removed. A new finish was built for the lower interior wall, with accompanying plumbing and a new sink. Our 8th grade classroom above it was also investigated.
We were able to purchase a new security system with 32 new cameras throughout the main building with a Lutheran Foundation Grant and our Big Give donations. We can now see the campus outside!
Where we’re waiting…
Initially we’d hoped to put in new windows (including significant lintel replacement) and replace the flat roof while repairing the slanted church and chapel roof this summer. However, due to the timing of the capital campaign, providing needed documents to secure the building loan, and timing of grant cycles the new goal is to complete these projects this fall. However, there is potential, due to the timing of funding and the changing weather these may be delayed until spring.
